Precautions After Buttock Augmentation with Implants
Showering: You may shower starting the day after your stitches are removed. Stitches are removed after your surgeon assesses your recovery, usually 10–14 days after surgery.
Wound care and hygiene: Keep the surgical area dry at all times. After using the toilet, clean gently with wet wipes, wiping sideways rather than from front to back or back to front. You may begin using a bidet one month after surgery.
Footwear: Wear low-heeled shoes, such as sneakers or flats, instead of high heels for approximately three months after surgery.
Sitting precautions: Avoid sitting on cold or hard surfaces for approximately three months after surgery. Avoid sitting with your legs crossed for at least six months.
Seat cushion: If you need to sit on a hard surface, using a doughnut-shaped cushion may help during the initial adjustment period.
Sexual activity: Avoid sexual intercourse for one month after surgery, as it may cause bleeding at the surgical site.
Alcohol and smoking: Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least one month after surgery, as they can delay wound healing and cause inflammation. They may also cause blood vessels to narrow and weaken your immune system.
Intramuscular injections: Do not receive injections into the buttock muscles, as they may damage the implants. If an intramuscular injection is needed, ask for it to be administered into the upper-arm muscle.
Complications such as bleeding, infection, and inflammation may occur after surgery, and individual satisfaction with the results may vary. Please consult your doctor.
